SAYAW PINOY-Bacarra slated on February 9
January 29 – The National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) once again showcases the talents of Filipinos in dance in a touring dance concert dubbed as SAYAW PINOY 2009 in celebration of the National Arts Monththis February.
Ms. Shirley Halili-Cruz, Head, NCCA-National Committee on Dance, says that Sayaw Pinoy 2009 featuring top dance companies in the Philippines will perform back-to-back with local dance troupes of the host localities.
The NCCA-National Dance Committee has identified the local government unit (LGU) of Bacarra as one of the hosts locality for Sayaw Pinoy-Luzon, mainly due to the municipality’s successful staging of the Bac-Bacarra Dance Parade—a dance showdown sponsored by the NCCA and LGU-Bacarra—last November 30, 2008.
The Sayaw Pinoy-Bacarra dance concert featuring about 30 dancers of the Halili-Cruz Dance Company and Kislap Sining Dance Troupe brings to the local audience at the Philip Corpus Velasco Socio-Civic and Cultural Center on February 9, 2009 various dance forms like folkdance, ballet, contemporary/modern and dance sport.
Bacarra Mayor Nicomedes C. dela Cruz Jr. has tapped the services of the Sangguniang Bayan, the Municipal Tourism Development Council, the Department of Education and other sectors to guarantee the successful staging of Sayaw Pinoy-Bacarra.
The NCCA will include Sayaw Pinoy-Bacarra and acknowledge the Municipality of Bacarra as one of the hosts locality in the national promotion of National Arts Month. (Ernesto B. Andres, Executive Secretary)
